Selling CDs?

This may be off topic, but why is Alton Sterling selling CDs in front of this store? What kind of CDs are these? Was he paying taxes on his earnings?

I'm just curious as to one "supports his family" selling CDs in 2016. Doesn't sound like a very good stream of income.

It could be in poor areas.
Not everybody has smartphones and MP3 players.
Or aux jacks in cars.

Dude why those that fricking matter. He was selling CDs. So fricking what! People do what they have to do to survive. Even if he only makes 20 a day, that's 20 more than he had before. You know how hard it is for someone with felonies to find a job?

I have purchased CD's from black guys hustling them at gas stations and Walmart parking lots out in the Permian Basin.
They approach you with the story that they are rising musicians/rappers and are just out making a few bucks to keep the dream alive.
It probably cost $2 to make the CD and they sell them for $10 each. Easy to rack up a few hundred a day times 3-4 guys hustling equals $500-$1000 for the crew daily.
I'm sure they blow all he money on booze, crank, and backpage whores so they are never going to get anywhere but at least they are making some scratch and livin the dream for a short while.
The music always sucks.

I even had some creepy Cowboy selling CDs on the patio of a bar in Carlsbad, NM get me for $20. I was drunk and there was a picture of his hot "daughter" on the cover of the CD.
The music sucked and I'm pretty sure the girl singing was not the girl on the cover.

I got told the dispatch call to officers was because he pulled a gun out on another black guy.
Then when the officers began to question and investigate the cd guy, he wanted nothing to do with and that's why the video went the way it did
