Seal/Stain finish on bricks...will it work/last on exterior bricks, OT?

A few years ago I got my hands on what is allegedly the "formula," that A Hays Town used to make the beeswax stain/finish on the bricks he used in his homes. I actually got it from a member here believe it or not.
I'm planning a DIY project in the next month or so to build a simple brick patio in the backyard. I'm pretty set on using reclaimed bricks as both my wife and I like the look. However I have two questions:
1.) I plan on using polymeric sand in between the bricks to try and go a little wider between the spacing. Will sealing work with polymeric sand being used in the joints?
2.) Have any of you used a stain like beeswax or just sealer on an exterior brick patio exposed to the sun and elements before? If so was it worth the effort to try and seal in the first place?
I'm curious as to how long a seal will last out here. Our original builder used poly on our Cypress in the front and back back in mid 2013 and I ended up having to sand them down and restrain using TWP this past summer.
Just wondering if I'd have to reseal and if so how often...
Thank you in advance for your time and attention regarding this important business matter. In exchange for your contribution, I have included this gif of Margot Robbie as a small token of my appreciation.

I've priced out materials and tools so far. I haven't bought anything yet. No pics to give you a reference right now.

That was a stretch. Probably should've waited for the weekday crew...

Use a penetrating dealer so that you will not heave to.............
if you are looking for a glossy look, forget it. I would not recommend. Penetrating sealer will last several years and just hose off and reapply.

if you are doing sand set bricks, I have never heard of larger joints. You can leave 1/4 or 1/3 inch joints and sweep in a sand Portland cement mixture into them. Come back with rain hose nozzle to after you sweep the sand cement mixture in.
This will keep the sand from washing out, but it all requires a fixed border to realy be permanent. I used steel garden edging I purchased from Lowes........

I plan on using plastic edging with 8" landscape nails driven in ever foot or 18 inches on the exterior sides where the patio will slope towards. The interior sides will both be bordered by concrete (patio on the long side and the slab of my house down the other.
ETA: Planning on renting a tiller to till up the soil I have to excavate for the 6" to set up by sub soil/gravel base, and then a compactor to compact the soil at the bottom and then the patio up top once I'm done but before I sweep and hose down the polymeric joint sand.
It's 10.5x17.5 and so I think my biggest challenge will be staging the gravel/sand/pavers on my back patio and then hauling all the damn soil out of there once I till down to six inches to start the gravel base. I suspect that's going to be an absolute bitch.
