I'm pretty sure that he is "retiring" from competitive ultra marathons after this. Dude is a machine. I'm fascinated by guys like him and Dean Karnazes and the distances that they accomplish.

I would think that Clif would send along a nutritionist to keep him from looking like a meth addict when he shows up at Mount Katahdin.

Starting to look doubtful he will break the record. 244 miles to go in 5.5 days. He better pick up the pace.

Impressive. There is also a guy climbing all 58(I think there is that many) 14er's of Colorado for a record. 10 days 20 hours.

except he is doing most of his running and riding on machines...which isn't even close to the same thing as riding/running on roads

Only when weather permits.

However, I seriously doubt most of the general population couldn't even do an iron man on a treadmill/stationary bike so I still give the guys respect.

nah, unless "too hot" is weather permitting

he did his IM in LA in my city and he swam in a pool, did his bike ride in a stationary bike in someone's house, then went to a gym to run his marathon on a treadmill

he also did one marathon on a freaking elliptical

I'm not saying the guy isn't a freak athlete and a badass, but him using machines kinda diminishes the feat IMO

Probably bc he had a heat stroke in Kentucky I believe and passed out while cycling lol. That was on his tour down south and he messed himself up pretty badly but still carried on..

This was also when we had record humidity/heat several weeks ago.

Looks like he's going to break it by just a few hours. Has about 2 miles to go.
