I just read the article in your link and it doesn't say anything about scientists bringing them back!

The bird thing is what is amazing. I saw a TED talk about that. The plan is to sequence the DNA of extinct birds and implant regular male and female chickens with germ cells of extinct birds. The regular chickens then lay an egg and the extinct bird hatches from the egg.
