Any magic bullets out there? I can usually get things back to normal with a couple days of stretching and ibuprofen. None of that is working this go around and I am pushing a week of living hell at this point.

I have it pretty bad also. For years had issues mainly on my right side, searing pain, numb leg/foot. Stretching/yoga helped some, but did not eliminate.
I finally broke down and went and had injections in my lower back, which seemed to reduce the pain somewhat. I do have a bad back with stenosis, bad discs and narrowed nerve canals.
So, if you are suffering you might want to see about an MRI to help evaluate the source of the problem.

It's a terrible thing to have, and unfortunately there are not many effective treatments. You can try anything from Tylenol and non-steroidals to antidepressants to muscle relaxants to herbal treatments to chiropractic, and the list goes on. But none of it is likely to give you much relief (beyond the placebo effect).
Ultimately, you can spend lots of money and time trying to find a treatment, but the best thing for it will probably be time, staying active, and controlling the pain as best you can.

Stretching is what I've been trying the last few weeks.
I've have the pain in m left hamstring and numbness/tingling all down my left leg since February.
It really sucks but the stretching helps relieve the pain somewhat along with making sure I don't sit on my arse all day while at work.

I just went through a rough patch last month. I walk vast distances, through the pain. Usually two days of straight walking and aspirin gets it done. Seriously, put on your shoes and go walk for 2/3 hours.

Exercise is key, you have to stay active. Living a sedentary lifestyle with this condition is almost impossible.

I fought the same problem for a few years. I had a herniated disc in my lower back. Tried everything , but nothing worked. Ortrhpedic surgeon said there was nothing they could do. Went and saw a neuro surgeon (Kelly Scrantz). Said he could fix it with no problem. Went under the knife and have been 100% ever since. God bless that Dr for changing my life!!!!
