So I spent the day on the road today and saw my fair share of carcusses which got me thinking. We as an industrialized first world nation are able to afford cleanup crews to drive around and clean these things up, but if you were in a less developed nation like in Africa or parts of the Middle East I'm assuming there isn't such a crew to do that, so would you see animal skeletons on the side of the road?

I've never seen one on the median picked clean before, but I'm assuming a vulture or that countries equivalent along with other animals would do such and so you'd eventually see a bunch of animal skeletons lying around?

Swift actually watched David and his wife Lisa die in the final episode, not kidding.

when animals eat something dead, they scatter it all over, so there would generally be no intact skeleton...just random bones scattered around an area.

I have heard that cars are a major hazard to kangaroos in Australia. Much of the country is incredibly sparsely populated, so they probably rot out on the road for quite a while. Then again because there are less people around it probably isn't really bothering too many people.

I think that the skeletons would get eaten too at some point. At the very least there is marrow in the bones that can be eaten.

I think the locals just handle it themselves if absolutely necessary.

For example, in India, the cows are loose everywhere. Which means they are in the roads all the time. They are even just laying on what we would call an interstate.

Does anybody do anything? Nope, just drive by at speed and dumb cow just sits there.

Howevwr, if a cow is causing a cluster, then some people will handle it. So, I'll go with it just sits there unless it causes major problems.

In service, I lived in Wyoming and there were plenty of large animals killed on the roadways. The only area I didn't see fresh carcasses was on the wind river reservation. Go figure.

Ftfy. Kanga's are a menace over there. They are their version of wild hogs, vastly overpopulated

I would assume that less developed countries have fewer cars so they have fewer encounters btwn auto/animal. However, I'd also assume that Mother Nature disposes of the road kill in those places same as she does here. Maybe even better.

Roadkill in many poor countries becomes what's for dinner. Especially if it's fairly fresh.
