I wasn't sure. It may have been UT. I just remember his local news segments and that sign off.

RIP Dr. Duke.
I too liked his matter of fact folksy schtick. Wondered what ever happened to him.

And wasn't there a "good day" after a long pause following that closing line?

Pretty sure that was Paul Harvey.

No, that was Paul Harvey signing off from his radio program.

You're confusing him with Paul Harvey.
Anyway, I seem to remember local news up here played Dr. Duke's clips. Was he semi-syndicated or something?

You've been here long enough to know better.
However, I am happy that my name is now part of a subject line on TD.
There is no such thing as bad press.

I think he said "From the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, (dramatic pause)I'm Dr Red Duke".

I remember seeing him on KLFY News in the 80's.

I am a former resident of Houston, and my girlfriend at that time was a RN that worked in the ER with Duke. He was extremely humble, and thought the greatest gift he had received in life was the opportunity to be a physician. Even though his bio seems sparse, his professional CV (resume) was 36 pages, and included such things as being a Army tank officer, attending Baptist seminary to become a minister before deciding on medicine, and practicing medicine in Afghanistan for two years in the late 60s.
