I didn't know her personally, but the food that she helped put out of her son's kitchen is some of the best Italian served in Baton Rouge.

An "icon" in her own right.

Prayers to the entire Gino's family.

That's crazy. I haven't eaten there forever and ended up eating there last night after a friend called me for a late dinnner. Love me some Lawrence Bread.

Love me some Lawrence bread.

Shrimp Champagne, Lasagna, or any veal dish ... it's all good!

Aw man. Hate to hear this, especially for Gino and Lawrence. She was the epitome of an Italian mother and she was so to many whom she served and loved.

Sad news. I thought she was going to live until at least 200.

Sad news, hands down my favorite resturant in BR. The seafood lasagna special and anything veal are always phenomenal

Not sure, but I imagine in her late 80's to early 90's based upon her son's age?

Id say so. I remember Gino from my LSU days in the mid-late 80's. He was older than us and I'm almost 50.

Oh wow. That's incredibly sad. She was an institution at that restaurant. Always back in the kitchen.

R.I.P Mama Marino.

Love Gino's. Crawfish arancini is the best. She will be missed at Gino's.
