How much does it cost to build a higher end home 3000 sqft? Land and taxes not included. Just the build out. Figure in some higher costs for nicer windows, and finishes.

I have seen "high end" homes with appliance packages ranging from 15k-75k. Plumbing and electrical fixtures can also vary greatly. Wood floors can go from 7-30 per sqft.

$140-160 sq.ft. Is a good number to start for high grade floors, countertops, trim and appliances.

Does that include the contractors cut?

At minimum $175 sq ft so..... $500,000 or so. That's high end. You can get it done for $125 or so but it won't be anything fancy.

175 per ft include the contractor fees?

Ched are you a contractor?

I love responses in these threads.

Me too. This is my dilemma. One person thinks 175 a ft is normal, while someone else would think that's absurd. Whit, are you a contractor? Any numbers?

3000 living or under room?
There's really no way to answer this without more info. I've had people tell me anywhere from $80 to $200 psf under roof depending on how fancy you want it

You can build a 3000 s/f home for 100k and a 1000 s/f home for 500k.
Unless you're ready to list every single thing you want in the home from your flooring, trim, hvac, lighting, insulation, etc. there is absolutely no way anyone here can give you a reasonable number.
High end to one person may be average to another.

No I'm not. I work with several people who do drafting for contactors and we talk a good about it. I also have a few friends who a have recently built houses.

In the building process now. We are looking at $185 per sq ft. Does not include lot but does include builder profit.

In Louisiana you should be able to build a nice house for $100 a square foot. That's not including the lot, or contractor fees.

Jesus. 185? I just built one with all the crap everyone wants for 125$.

Depends on where, the market for subs, allowances for finishes, etc.
generally, for living (heated/cooled) in south La should be around $150per. So $450K
