Copied from Music Board

Back in the 1970s-80s? I know about Elvis in 1975 and Rush in 1982. Who else?

uhhhhh. I think you meant "Baton Rouge." Lake Charles has never been a "hotspot" for music.

Elvis also hit Ellick on that tour, and maybe Monroe. It wasn't too uncommon for big names to play in the smaller cities of the state.

it has a college and in the '70s and '80s many acts would play BR or the MS GC to avoid the NO entertainment tax (which according to a NO promoter I heard lecture at LSU once was enacted to pay for welfare), so it's possibly LC sometime got the overflow of acts trying to avoid NO

In the 70's it was surprising how small to medium size towns could get some pretty impressive musical acts.

ZZ Top played LC several times and kicked off their Eliminator tour there.

In te early 80s, also had stops by AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, Rick Springfield, Cinderella.

Going back father, buddy of mine's Mom remembers Elvis and other big names in the 1950s making the circuit on U.S. 190. He's from Kinder, and they'd stop in and play Elton and Basile, too.

Bobby Kimball. I went to school with him. Our 50th reunion is this fall. Saw him about 10 years ago when I went back to Vinton for a funeral.

Elvis started in Shreveport so I wouldn't really read that much into it.

I was at that show!

Lots of general admission tickets (maybe all). No chairs on the floor. Could get as close to the stage as you dared.
