Where is the best place to buy nice solid wood interior doors, hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom tile? I need a place that will ship or a chain store. We only plan to live in the place for 5-6 years so we don't want to break the bank.

Is lumber liquidators decent for flooring?

Yes. Floor n Decor would be a better option as you can get some cheap tile there. Lowes would be your cheapest option for doors and cabinets.

I don't think renovating an apartment is ever intelligent. If you want a nicer apartment....MOVE apartments. Problem solved

You must not be familiar with NYC real estate.

ETA: We bought the place.

Anyone would say the same, "familiar with NYC real estate" or not.... relaying the information that you bought it in the original post would have been they way to go

I thought it was implied that he owned it. Why else would he renovate it?

If he planned on living in it for 5 years.... that doesn't sound like a purchased property. As mentioned in the original post.

Yes, but he said "apartment". Later stated that it was NY real estate. Here in the bayou apartments are rented.
