Kitchen is small - has anyone ever used homedepot or lowes to install the kitchen cabinets/countertops purchased from them? If so, any comments?

Alternatively, Anyone try this remodel themselves?

Their contractors are crap in my opinion and overcharge greatly. I was suspicious of their capability even for the overpriced estimate the one time I thought I might give it a shot.
Much better to go with a local guy who comes recommended by someone you know. I would try local cabinet and flooring places before using them to intall. Much easier to deal with when something goes not to your liking. If someone has better experiences with them, by all means state so.

Had a friend use them to install floors and they totally fricked it up, then tore them up and left him with nothing for several weeks before they finally came back and fixed it

It's easy as frick trully and don't buy press wood cabinets from Lowes or HD. Go to Surplus Warehouse or order from here. They both sell all wood cabinets and at a good price for a rental property. You can give either of them the dimensions and they will help you lay the kitchen out and tell you what you need.

If you are into rentals you had better learn to do quite a few things or have deep pockets.

Not sure where you're located but IKEA does this. Good for a rental.

Home Depot just did mine. They were fricking awful. I can not stress how bad of a job they did general contracting. They had all the details of my job up front my wife wanted an under mount sink told us sink would come with granite counter tops. Cabinets show up 2 months after ordering them. They come not as ordered had to wait another 2 weeks to get the right cabinets they tried to charge me for them ordering the wrong cabinet doors. Countertops come in lady calls and says you need to come pick your sink out. I tell her we did 2 months ago when we ordered the cabinets when you told us it came with the countertops. She says oh well I have to order it and it doesn't come with countertops anymore. Oh yeah your sink will be in store in another month. So basically ended up having to overnight the sink from Amazon.com so my project could continue. I will go ahead and tell you this started in June and I'm still waiting on a piece from home depot so I can install my last cabinet door.

If I could I would punch every cabinet salesman form home depot in the face.
