1 SWAT officer reassigned for the non-authorized PIT.
1 SWAT officer stripped of badge and head whomping gun.
Too PC?

In their press release, the department stressed their overall concern for public safety. The guy driving with a car full of meth and likely on it himself was putting his, the cops, and everyone on the highways's life in danger. I don't know how I feel about hitting the guy in the face with the gun because there is no way to know what happened that far away; however, kudos to the driver of the SWAT truck who ended that shite. Empty highway...armored car....finish it

The only thing they did wrong was not end it early. Dude sped through a school zone and a neighborhood and they were content with letting the chase continue.
Not to mention, traffic was such a pain after that.

Right? 2 hours of that chase?
Seems as if the command should be suspended for not giving orders to end that nonsense sooner.

As far as hitting the guy in the face, the officers statement was that he did that when the suspect grabbed the gun. Rule number one is that all bets are off when someone latches onto a gun (in this case it was a less lethal launcher but same concept applies). If the video bears that out (and they should know that already) then why suspend him?
This stinks of scared administrators reacting to perceived fear of public outrage. But there hasn't been any public outrage. Everyone seems to agree this guy needed to be stopped. I really don't get this one. Even the cop haters were leaning towards: "Well, that a-hole needed a butt kicking."

The PIT maneuver suspension is stupid. The guy did what had to be done. Nothing wrong there.
The moron clearly hit him on the head with the butt of his launcher, though. You can see another officer pulling him away from the suspect after he clearly nails him several times.

Cops aren't supposed to hand out street justice beating people in the head with guns or anything else you ignorant bootlicking a-hole.

You are the a-hole, a-hole. I clearly said IF THEY WERE IN A FIGHT FOR THE WEAPON. If that was the case it isn't "street justice" you moron. I am sure you will come up with some argument where he should just hand the guy the weapon though you idiot. Damn.

First thought I had as well.

In a huge chase that the media will film you have to do everything by the book.
If the dept's policy is no PIT maneuvers you have to flow policy.
5 years ago nothing would have been said. Today you have to follow policy thanks to past abuse by police officers and the Obama administration.
