One of the officers has been charged.

An officer was charged this morning in the police killing of 95-year-old John Wrana, the World War II veteran who was fatally shot with beanbag rounds in his apartment at a south suburban senior facility last year.

Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez’s office said patrolman Craig Taylor, 43, was charged with one count of reckless conduct, a Class 4 felony. Taylor has been with the Park Forest Police Department since January, 2004.

Yeah, apparently is Illinois' lowest class of felony and can be punishable by just probation. I thought it was bullshite as well.

I also think the fact thats he's the only one charged it bullshite also.

Class 4 felony is the same charge you would get for second conviction of shoplifting.

Wait, if someone dies as a result of someone else committing a felony isn't it murder? At least according to every crime drama I've ever seen.

Every cop on this site will be in here before long talking about how justice has been served. Don't lump all cops in with the bad apples

Cops are scum.

Yes generalization, but there are so few exceptions I'm ok with with it. The idiots cop apologists on this board are the very people who make this crap possible.

Cops are quickly becoming the most despised people in society. I'd guess they're below pedophiles at this point.

We don't know the whole story. Les wait and let the facts come out.

You don't understand how dangerous it is out there.

When you walk in their shoes you'll understand.

He followed proper procedure..

He feared for his life.

Blah blah blah

In all seriousness , I worked for 6 years in an inpatient, geriatric psych unit and had to subdue combative patients with dementia on a regular basis.

I never used a taser, bean bag shotgun or anything like that.

I'd put on rubber gloves, a long sleeved shirt and use two female nurses. One nurse to hold the legs while I had them up top and another to give the injection.

No SWAT needed.

You never felt so threatened by a 95 year old man that you were forced to blast him with a bean bag out of a shotgun?

No. I have 3 scars on my body from mixes from dementia patients back then but they never had an injury from me. Not one.

I know a lot about this kind of thing and it's unreal that the cops were called and the cops did what they did.

It was easily manageable.

Man survives one of the worst conflicts in human history only to be done in by jerkoffs with bean bags.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't even stop him from being a cop.

Refuse medical treatment for your own health and we kill you with bean bags from a shotgun instead.

Guy was Ninety freaking Five years old, served in Burma in WWII, and survived it all, only to be shot dead in America with bean bags from American Police Officers who had to use shotguns, riot shields and tasers in an assisted living old folks facility against an 95 year old veteran who didn't want to receive treatment, and weeks before his birthday. That's real fricking cute right there.

He's 95. Let the old guy do what he wants. He's more than earned that right.

go America.

frick these Americans. They weren't worth the sacrifices of that war. They deserve to be under the control of the fricking Nazis. They have become the Nazis.

It's absolutely shocking that a 95 year old man with a can and a shoe horn can scare someone so much that they feel the need to shoot him with a bean bag.
