The table was set. Blockbuster was going down.

Everyone HATED Blockbuster. You could hear cheering from the streets.

However..................................

The ONLY time I'd normally rent a movie was for a new release that I didn't go see in theaters.

Blockbuster actually had a 30 day advance release on certain companies (I think Sony).

I remember Avatar coming out to Blockbuster, and while people were hoping for bankruptcy, the Redboxes they were circling jerking, would need to wait 30 days for 1-2 copies in a box that 5000 people would check.

I believe Blockbuster actually had advantages over Redbox:
1) Exclusives to quicker releases
2) More Selection (Guaranteed in-stock, etc)

I didn't care to spend $4 over $1, when for $4, I could watch a month sooner and know it'd be in stock when I drive to the place to get it.

Now that we can stream easier it's not as big of a deal, but it was crazy just how bad people were rooting for a company who was providing a superior service.

Also, at myself for a dumbass post. I let the thought roll in my head and needed to vent!

I can't let go of things that happened 7-8 years ago.

Blockbuster and OSU losing to LSU, shittiest year of all time.

I did hate spending $4 for a 3 day rental of a movie I planned on watching immediately and didn't need for 3 days.

Wasn't it 2006 when Florida beat OSU in basketball and football? Seems like that was worse.

Do you have the Internet? I watched Everest on Kodi through my fire stick last night. It's still in theaters and it was free.

Yeah but 2006 y'all lost two NCs both to the same team. Seems like that's the worst. Maybe I'm wrong on that. I sure as frick ain't googling it.

Netflix failing to renew a deal for new releases was a huge mistake on their part.

Some of us have a superior understanding of market fluctuations and are patiently waiting to cash in huge on the inevitable recovery.

I was a teenager during Blockbuster's heyday. It was really cool to take a date/gf to pick out a movie or two and head back to the crib for a night of messing around on the couch all night. Much better vibe than standing in front of CVS with very few good new releases to choose from.
