A friend and I sat outside eating pizza at Theo's near Carrollton and Canal and said we'd take a gulp of our beer for each flash of the camera. We were drunk in 15 minutes.
That is so awesome.

Pay it. It's the easiest ticket you'll ever get. Doesn't hike your insurance or anything. The fine goes up, the longer you blow it off.
What kind of benefits do you get for working for the red light camera companies?

There is no way to prove who is driving the car. Most people I know dont even pay them based off that alone

If you're guilty, just pay it. These fines are nothing for OT ballers. No need to pull the "do you know who I am?" card in this case

Anybody know anything about how valid they are or how to get out of them without having to take a day off of work to sit in court to try to fight it? Thanks in advance.
Yep, quit breaking the fricking law a-hole.

Straight up naked money grab in the name of "safety."

It's not an official traffic violation so it doesn't affect your insurance. Get too many of them in one city and the worst thing that can happen is that they'll tow your car if it's ever parked on the street. Then, you'll have to pay the absurd towing fee as well as all fines and penalties to get your car back.
Many cities do report them to credit bureaus -- I've had 3 reported.
However, I wrote the 3 credit bureaus contesting them and all 3 were removed w/in 30 days.

Red light camera tickets
depends on where you live... For me,

Facts About Red Light Camera Revenue in Sugar Land
The owner of a vehicle photographed running a red light is subject to a $75 fine. State law requires payment of the civil fine.
The revenue from red light penalties is split between the state and a special City account to fund traffic safety programs, intersection improvements, public safety programs and traffic enforcement, including the Safe Light Sugar Land initiative.
Projected revenue from red light cameras for the current fiscal year represents
.3 percent of the City's total budget and can only be used for traffic safety programs.

I've spoken with an ADA and also cop in NOLA and they both confirmed that there's no real "enforcement" by the police et al...
The cameras are owned and operated by a company out of AZ and they make their letters look *really* official and scare people into just paying them.
They don't have any "teeth" so to speak other than to alert the City of NOLA's Traffic division. They can't submit to collections, they can't report to credit bureaus, or basically do anything but send you threatening letters.
All that said, they *WILL* boot your car if one of those parking officials catches your car parked on the street... Then it will be $300 to remove the boot + all of the red light and speed camera tickets you have.
I have probably ~$600-700 in bullshite camera tickets so I just don't park in CBD, ever.
Oh, and I spoke to the DMV as well and they won't even prevent you from renewing registration.
(This was all accurate information as of 01FEB16)

If you ran the led light then just pay the stupid thing and don't do it again. If you didn't then dispute it.

About 6 years ago I got one off of Causeway Blvd and Veterans. The photo they mailed me clearly showed that I passed through the light when it was yellow and the guy behind me set it off when he ran the red. Both of us were on camera. I thought it was BS but paid the ticket because a coworker of mine had challenged a ticket he had gotten from the light before and lost. About a month ago when I was visiting my parents, they had received a letter from the state addressed to me. It was a refund from what I guess was a class action lawsuit against the light. I was given a whopping $6 check. LOL.

That's the "moral" of the story.
Just realize that if you don't pay them, you'll never be able to park on the street of the city that cites you. You'll have to pay to park in a private lot.
Many cities now have those vans that can read every license plate on a city block and they go around daily looking for cars that have violations. It's a huge money maker for a lot of cities. So, if you ever HAVE to park on the street, as one poster said above, make sure you are REALLY close to the car behind you. Even then, the van might catch you.

never paid one in New Orleans, they sent me a second fine that waa double the amount, ignored that too. I haven't heard back in over a year and since then have switched my vehicle registration parish and renewed license without any flags for it
