I am close to finishing up the inside of my house, but am warn out and not interested in doing the entire outside as well. What is the going rate to have a home painted? I live in a single story home that is roughly 2000 SF. If it would save a good bit in cost, i will do the prep work and all the trim also. Just looking for someone to paint the huge patches.

the huge patches are the easy part. the trim is the hard part.

I got quotes and they were all over the place. i decides to slowly paint every think my self over the next few months.

Yeah, i agree. I just have an older home that needs a lot of patch work. I trust myself a lot more than someone else. I figured i could save some coin and have them paint the big shite and knock the trim out over time.

My house fits that description and I just had the entire exterior painted for $1,000. I bought the paint myself.

A very nice couple and they finished in two weekends.

4200sf house. Changed exterior color to white including brick.

I think we paid $500 for labor (2 Mexicans) plus the cost of renting sprayer and I think 15 or 20 gallons of paint.

Yep lots of overspray on shingles (mostly gone now) and the humor of one the Mexicans showing up at front door completely white when he shot himself in the face trying to fix a sprayer clog.

Yeah they did. They didn't even tape up much. Just took their time and it looked good.

I had been putting painting myself too. Someone referred them to me and I'm glad I had them do it.

Did they do any prep work? Use primer?

I think you sort of have it backwards.

The painting part is considerably less tedious than the prep work - if the prep work is done properly.

That's the part where I would be looking to hire someone.

taped windows and doors with plastic and we used a primer+paint exterior paint

Eta professional painter estimates were like $4k and up.

Ridiculous

Not saying you were wrong to do it this way, but brick usually takes more care to paint than wood, hardie, etc. I hope the paint holds up over time.

4K? Ha! Our builder wanted 12k to paint fresh brick. We picked a different brick.

painting brick will eat paint like crazy.

That's all I got.

We did buy top-of-the-line SW paint specific for this type of job so we'll see how this holds up over time.
