My teenage son came home with a simple straight forward Patagonia one yesterday for a mere $149. I was a bit perplexed by that decision.

nothing perplexing about it. His mother paid for it. Ergo, you paid for it.

I'm sure he appreciates your generosity.

I need a new gym bag. I think I want one with separate compartments for shoes and wet/dirty clothes. Any ideas?

I got a Nike basketball backpack that works great as a gym bag. It has a seperate compartment for shoes, and have a few other seperate pockets that could hold wet clothes

Nike hoops elite max-- don't get version 2.0. Try to find the first one that has 3 zippers (rather than 4 on the 2.0). You should be able to get it on amazon for footlocker.com

I use a 3 compartment backpack I got for free when I stopped at a truck stop one day for fuel. Its great.

I use one compartment for my notebook, gloves and water bottle.
The middle section has my change of clothes, a towel, shampoo, and normal bathroom items.
The third section is where I put the sweaty clothes and my shoes.
Earbuds, keys and wallet all fit nicely in the front pouch.

What more could you possibly need in a gym bag? Im only spending 1-1.5 hrs total in the gym, not taking a brocation.

I bought an AND 1 brand from wal-mart earlier in the week for $20. Had an Under Armour for a few years that tore up but didn't want to spend $50-$60 on a gym bag.
