So the spring on one side of my attic door came off and when I try to re-attach it and pull as hard as I can it doesn't even get halfway to where it needs to to hook back on (douevenliftbro?) I know.

Is there any sort of trick to hooking it back on or do I just need to be stronger?

Are you hooking it with door closed? from attic side?

Burn the house down...it's the only way to fix it.

I tried with door open and door closed didn't make a difference.

Did you loosen the locknut on the turnbuckle and then turn it? (Not sure which kind of door you have)

Spray a little bit of spring relaxer on it.

Remove the spring tension by removing the nut from the side of the staircase, partially closing the stairs and then pulling the arm off of the bolt

are your ladder arms inside or outside the stair rail?

Mine looks just like this except the spring isn't attached.

Ladder arms are outside the rail.
