Baton Rouge police busted up a large party on Northshore Avenue on Friday night and arrested two people who were accused of inciting others to riot.

Neighbors called police, complaining about the loud music and more than 300 people walking around the yards and street, the affidavits of probable cause for the arrests say.

When police tried to disperse the crowd, one woman, Paige Pennington, 22, told them police did not have a right to be there and could not make everyone leave, according to the affidavit of probable cause for her arrest.

When police handcuffed her, she said, “I can afford this, I have money,” the affidavit says.

Another man, Garrett Kopcso, 22, told officers he owned one of the properties where the party was being held and said police could not make him leave, according to the affidavit of probable cause for his arrest. But he later said he wasn’t the owner, the affidavit says.

Kopsco put up a fight when officers arrested and attempted to put him in the back of the patrol car and urged the 20 people who surrounded the car to swarm the officers, the affidavit says.

Pennington, 7349 Bocage Blvd., and Kopcso, 17385 S. Harrell’s Ferry Road, both of Baton Rouge, were each booked into Parish Prison on counts of interfering with a law enforcement investigation, inciting to riot and resisting an officer. Pennington also was booked on entering and remaining after forbidden, and Kopcso was booked on battery of an officer.
