MSG is used in almost anything. MSG can be listed as many other 'terms' on the ingredients list, to throw those off looking for MSG.

ALso I used to work at Chickfila, and EVERYTHING has MSG in it. The chicken is marinated in it, the breading for the chicken has it, the fries has it, sauces has it. Even the fake arse butter has some. But yea, most places will use it.

I love the sauce but I have become a big fan of both Zaxby's and PDQ since moving away from BR after college. Like both places chicken way more than Canes. The breading gets soggy way too easily at Canes.

Used to work there, fairly recently actually.

Arden Key used to work at Raising Cane's until recently and he commented on how much he loved the sauce.

Then you comment on Old people loving the Cole Slaw. Coach Ed Orgeron orders extra slaw.

I am just connecting the dots here, Arden.

I need to try Zaxby's. The one on Barker-Cypress and West Road isn't too far away.

Most chains have moved to using other compounds they don't have to label as MSG but it's essentially MSG. Subway, Papa John's, etc and other places that claim "No MSG" are skirting the FDA laws on the semantics.

It's a tenderizer, adds umami flavor and it helps the meat soak up the water in the marinade

The marinade pack use to say sodium and monosodium glutamate right on the pack, but they changed it after I quit working there

MSG is also naturally occurring amino acid in certain foods including tomatoes

I think Zaxbys is very average. Went to the one in Hammond and there is a canes 300 yards away. I will never choose Zaxbys again

Caine's might be better if they cooked their chicken longer. The breading is always soggy. Zaxbys has better tenders. Slim Chicken's has bland chicken, but the best fries.

How exactly is MSG harmful? MSG is one of the most studied and safest compounds we add to food. Hell humans have been eating it in some form since pre-history.

Probably because Chinese restaurants started using an absurd amount of it in the 80s. But a small sprinkle is no big deal at all.

My Dad was sensitive to it, and always requested none on the rate occasion he ate Chinese. But I started buying Conecuh seasoning blend, which contains a dash of it. He never even noticed.

And compared to the crazy arse chemicals that food scientists are using as preservatives, its very safe.
