Last shop I took it to apparently did not find leak as all the coolant has leaked out again and it appears to have reddish/orange rust sludge underneath radiator cap. Any recommendations for the Baton Rouge area?

Thanks.

there's a radiator place on Range in Denham that fixes or replaces them.

You check the hose connection on the bottom? Sounds like your radiator needs to be replaced if it's all rotten inside.

I've heard the horror stories of the Dex-sludge before, but I've never flushed my radiator and always used only Dexcool. Recently I've had to add water because the coolant has completely leaked out. Took it to shop. Guy says leak fixed. A few weeks later all coolant has leaked out again. So I've had to add water to hold me over.

Reading a little online I'm hoping that the reddish/brown sludge is a mixture of water, rust, and leak stop fluid that the previous guy used. I don't think the Dex-sludge could have appeared on such short notice.

it needs to be completely removed from the system. Flushed completely out and replaced with regular Green or Gold antifreeze. Only use distilled water in system. Tap water introduced to the system will enable electrolysis that eat away at aluminum motor components and gaskets.
Trust me. I made so much money in the past on Dexcool related problems.

What was the deal with that? Were people mixing it with green and it was sludging up? I have Dexcool in my shite with no problems. That's what we've always run in our GM trucks and SUVs

no they weren't. The stuff is pure crap if not flushed regularly. Unless you got extremely lucky.

btw, walmart sells i gallon distilled water for .88.
Buy undiluted antifreeze. Completely flush system out with distilled water then add the distilled water/pure antifreeze 50-50 mixture.

Good luck. I have had my radiator replaced and flushed multiple times over 15 years of owning my S10. It`s my work truck now. It`s still brown and gross.

You would basically have to replace anything that water filters through, to correct that issue.
All hoses, water pump, radiator. Your heater core will get clogged eventually and the heater will stop working. The motor will basically have to be boiled out, not just a basic flush. They have to put the shite in and you would need to drive around a few days, so it circulates and then flush it.

There will be some that will say that`s B.S., but the deposits in the water are corroding everything.

you are %75 correct. I run the flush with distilled water for about 30 minutes. Sometimes takes 2-3 tries. The big thing is getting any tap water out of the system.

Too bad I can`t get all the money I spent fixing my stuff over the years from that crap they produced.

Dexacool = shite

I have taken care of the truck over the years. It has 197 + thousand miles on the V6. Dexacool has been the issue since early on.

Radiator being replaced, system flushed, coolant switching over to non-Dexcool anti-freeze.

What about a chemical flush to get everything out? I have some leftover Cummins Restore and Restore + that are good at cleaning out gunk and rust
