Does anyone know what is going on? Looks like they are redoing the whole thing (inside and out), but can't understand why they would be doing that now.

When would you prefer them to do it?

It's fricking lunacy plain and simple. There's no rhyme or reason to it, it's absolute bullshite.

Chevron near Bocage. Nothing says "I don't give a frick about money" like paying 40 cents/gal over normal retail price.

Isn't Racetrac one of the few companies that provide ethanol free gasoline at the standard pump?

Now is the perfect time for the renovations. Essen is a cluster frick with the lane widening and bridge construction.

I guess no time would be a good time. But, maybe they could have done it while all of the construction was going on with Essen right in front of them.

With the ongoing construction on Essen, somebody with a little smarts probably decided that while they were already getting some decrease in business due to the construction congestion, why not go ahead with the remodel instead of waiting until later when business was back up.

hate getting off the interstate there in the afternoons. Guaranteed the mexican construction guys are going try and cross 6 lines of traffic to get in there for their 40oz bud lights

They recently did the same with the Racetrac in Hammond on 190 near I-55. The pumps were still operational but the store itself was closed for a few weeks with they completely renovated. It seemed like it was in pretty good shape before the renovations... I guess Racetrac has some extra money to spend.

I almost exclusively use racetrac

Their gas is cheap and their stores are clean and full of hot food options

Also, the pumps always tend to have the auto-pump feature intact

They just finished the Racetrac on Old Hammond by N Harrels Ferry, so yeah. As long as they have that dark roast coffee tank full, IDGAF.

Two observations about that Racetrac:

1. Whoever hires the employees has an eye for sexy black girls. They ain't all hot, but yeah... gimmie some brown sugar to go, please.
2. They intermittently give the coffee away for free. Seems random; sometimes you go to pay for it and they just say "Thank you" and wave you out the door.

Racetrac is the best gas/convenience store option around. Polite employees, well stocked, cheap gas, clean.
