I played 9 holes in 51 minutes by myself yesterday. Included a hole having to look for my ball, not finding it, & having to go back and re-tee.

Shot a 42 but it was still pretty cool to get in a 9 hole round that fast.

I've played 18 holes with a partner in 2 1/2 hours, but that is at my country club which is never crowded.

51 minutes for 9 holes might be some kind of record.

I figured if I would have hit a provisional on the 3rd hole it would been about 4 minutes faster than that. No practice swings, didn't take my glove off to putt, walked fast to the greens, didn't take flag stick out, & I was the only person on the course.

Never understood what the big deal is about playing so fast. It's like the overall score doesn't matter. It's all about being an old man with saggy balls in the clubhouse bragging about his 2.5 hour round and 20 handicap.

I'd much rather play a 4.5 hour round and know I gave it my best and had a solid score

Sometimes it's getting dark and you just want to swing the clubs.

When I was in high school a friend worked in the club house of our small golf course, they closed up at 5 and that's when we would all go play. Some times it would be 12 of us playing a scramble in teams of 4 and we would tear through 9 holes in a little over an hour.

We all teed off together then it was kinda a free for all. It was a ton of fun and all sorts of shite talking.

Hell fricking NO.

I LOVE golf, but I have no desire to spend 4.5 hours playing 18 holes. That means the course is crowded or is backed up. I just hate slow play and really have no desire to spend all day on the course.

To answer the OP, I once played 18 at Dumas in Baker, alone and riding a cart, in 1 hour and 40 minutes. I started at around 6pm on a Saturday and encountered exactly one other person on the course.

About a month ago, I played 36 at Webb, also solo and in a cart, in about 3 hours and 45 minutes. I started at like 4:30 on a Monday afternoon I think and for some reason the course was almost empty that day too.

I guess the moral of the story is....if you play shitty BREC courses and time it right, you can play really fast.

2 hr 30 min twosomes are the best when not crowded. Anything over 3 hours is terrible

I worked at a golf course in college. We would play after work in the marshall's cart which goes faster. 4 people and 4 separate carts. It also helps playing the same course everyday for a couple years. You stop having to worry about yardage. Pins up tees up= 175, pins back tees up= 182, Pons back tees back= 199. Once you have the local knowledge, you play faster.

To answer the question, typically 18 holes in less than. 2.5 hours.

You could play more. You wouldn't have rotted in the heat all day. Your score is usually lower with a decent pace.

I quit because of dipshits who refused to pick up the pace. It takes too long now.
