Question for you conspiracy folks.

I was listening to a local public radio station (very liberal programming) and there were some guests on from the MOVE organization. One of their main beliefs was that big companies like Monsanto were trying to poison the general public with their GMO food products.
The question is why would companies poison the general public if their goal is global subjugation? What's the point of killing off those you wish to control, i.e. a puppet master with no puppet?

I don't subscribe to their mindset, but they believe that this is a form of population control.
Along with chem trails, etc.

They don't want to kill people, they want to increase profit margins. That's what everyone who complains about corporations doesn't get. They are not inherently evil. They are inherently greedy. Big difference. They try to find the best ways to make more money each year vs the last year. Simple as that.
They aren't out to get anyone. If you think big business is out to get you, you have a narcissism issue. All they want is your money. They want you alive and spending.

See, that's the point that I don't understand. If all these corporations want more money, why would they kill off potential consumers? I would think 1,000 people buying your product would be better than 100

you're probably confusing people who think monsanto is intentionally trying to poison people with people who think that GMO food products are poison.
but why not pick a better conspiracy? roswell, mk ultra, giving black people syphilis, creating AIDs, etc.

Well, to put a finer point on it, they want the optimum amount of revenue. That doesn't mean they want to kill everybody, but if the optimum amount of revenue means a certain number of people get sick, injured, or die, so be it, from their point of view. They are not immoral, but they are amoral. That distinction is lost on the person getting the shaft from them.
The counters to this are 1: law and 2: public opinion. The former for obvious reasons. The latter because if a company's reputation gets bad enough, it impacts the revenue stream.

I think the actual conspiracy with Monsanto is that genetic modification (Which allows plants to be sprayed with stuff that would usually kill it) has resulted in bumper crops that gets more production with less land and thus more profit.
The conspiracy is that no one really knows what the long term affects may be on the general population after consumption. And it pays more to sweep those kind of notions under the rug.

Neither one of these are conspiracies, at least in the way we use the term. They happened.

Monsanto may also be implicated in the Zika outbreak LINK
quote:
The microcephaly outbreak in Brazil, which coincided with the spread of the Zika virus, continues to stun the world, even months after the incident was first reported.
Pregnant women all over the world have been advised to take caution. The Zika virus infection has been linked to newborn babies with the birth defect microcephaly. This is a congenital condition in which babies are born with unusually tiny heads.
The notion, however, has recently been challenged by a group of Argentine physicians. The group suspects that the Zika virus is not to blame for the rise in microcephaly cases, but that a toxic larvicide introduced into Brazil's water supplies may be the real culprit.
Not A Coincidence?
According to the Physicians in Crop-Sprayed Towns (PCST), a chemical larvicide that produces malformations in mosquitoes was injected into Brazil's water supplies in 2014 in order to stop the development of mosquito larvae in drinking water tanks.
The chemical, which is known as Pyriproxyfen, was used in a massive government-run program tasked to control the mosquito population in the country. Pyriproxyfen is a larvicide manufactured by Sumitomo Chemical, a company associated [PDF] with Monsanto. However, PCST has referred to Sumitomo as a subsidiary of Monsanto.

yup, their default is greed [ the love of money over everything else ]
evil gets minimized as excuse to legitimize any negative results of their actions that they may or may not admit to

There would be millions of starving people around the world without GMO's.

Monsanto created agent orange.
Our gov't purchased it and dumped it on our soldiers and all along Vietnam.
Agent orange is poison, and there are a number of Vietnam vets that are having complications from that.
The above is indisputable fact.
Monsanto produces insecticide and pesticide, and those poisons seep into the water, which has a detriment to our health as well.

And all that was done with malicious intent?
Keep in mind agent orange was used by the U.S. military, not by Monsanto.

Intent? Maybe not.
Reckless and short-sighted (and greedy)? Indeed.

Let's not forget industrial fertilizers and the subsequent runoff.
I'm all for genetically modifying foods, but not in the manner that Monsanto has done. Relying on non-natural inputs can last only so long and it destroys soil quality.
