What is an average pay and benefits package? I'm asking for anything from project management on smaller commercial/government projects (1-10 million) to material/rental sales to estimating etc.

Where does 50k -55k with no benefits fall in the range for a person with a degree from a SEC school with experience as a PM/estimator for a GC and sales experience. (asking for a friend)

Shitty unless your working for either a commissioned base job or tiny subcontractor. At the very least, some benefits (healthcare, vacation, 401k) should be available to salaried positions. Even in sales jobs some benefits are expected in my opinion.

You work all the damn time and have no life out of work. Forget your kids and wife, you get to hang out with hardasses all day.

That's not a good salary or package at all in today's construction economy.

The going rate for a seasoned commercial PM in South LA is 75 to 95k with full benefits, including vehicle allowance per month.

I've been with my current company going on 4years without a raise.

I spent 10 years learning to run a general contracting company until the recession hit. I've been a PM on fire stations, schools, etc.

It falls in line with move to Houston b/c there seems to be a shortage of good PM's in the commercial environment. The shitty ones are doing better than that.

I'm making right at 60k (less bonuses) with only one year experience. 401k, insurance, truck allowance included. Memphis area fwiw.

Thanks for responding. If you don't mind me asking, what is your position/title and what hours do you normally work?

Your friends getting hosed. I know sub's that have employees making that with benefits. I'm in sales, but I also manage a project once I've sold it - I make twice that plus commission, bonus and benefits out the arse. Most project managers I deal with are managing jobs in the 3-8 million and they get paid very nicely, I'm guessing 150k or so plus per diem and bonus after the job is done.

I estimate and PM. 7-5ish with a good deal of flexibility. As long as my bases are covered, I can essentially cut out early when I need to. I have a pretty good situation.

Beyond shitty. I made more than that straight out of school. And I was only an assistant PM.

I just got out of major industrial projects last week. Retired at a young age. My company was one of the largest OG&C companies in the world. I worked on the engineering side and moved back and forth between construction management and engineering management.

I'd like to meet a project manager that actually has swung a hammer, pushed an asphalt mop or placed concrete and wrecked forms.

All the ones I know sit in the trailer hoping they can collect submittals, shop drawings and paint color charts and wouldn't know a metal stud from a bar joist.

First thing I do when I meet one is look at their hands and I can tell how the job is going to be.

You must be in a small town. Commercial PM's with 14 yrs experience in ATL where I am should be in the $100k-$130k base salary range if they're decent...not including bonus, 401k, insurance and truck allowance, etc.

I own a subcontracting business and we'll need to be in the $60-$70k range for someone that can manage work and is presentable for client interaction. Said person will need to have 5-8yrs of experience.
