It's my niece/goddaughter's 1st Communion this Sunday. What kind of gift do I get her?

Money inside a card is always best in these situations.

Just tell her she's in your prayers. That's the best gift of all.

Mule's or Pauline's. Get the nuns or whoever is working to help you pick something out.

Rosary or missal.

Just don't go to a"Christian" bookstore.

A nice pair of gold cross earrings or a necklace with a small gold cross would be nice.

Catholic stores in Metairie. Churches used to have stores but I can't think of one that has one other than the Cathedral.

I've done that too. The Protestant clerks will burn you to hell with their eyes when you tell them you are Catholic

Go to St. Mary's Gifts in the shopping center at Florida and Sherwood. They're a few doors down from Baskin Robins Ice Cream.

If it is your God daughter you go bigger than average. A miraculous medal on a gold chain or a VERY nice rosary.

My daughter just made hers.

Her Parrain got her a pearl bracelet with a small cross and a religious medal on it.
