I'm getting directv installed tomorrow. Should I mount the dish on the roof or in the yard?

On the roof for sure. Make sure your HOA doesn't have any regulations about it being visible from the street.

I did mine in the yard because I didn't want anyone drilling holes in my roof, but sometimes I wish it was on the roof.

Got mine in the yard, but I use round up as my weed eater. I like it in the yard so I can get to it in case I ever need to tweak it a bit. Most people don't know how to point, and if you are one of those people, just get it put on the roof.

would you let some random crackhead drill holes in your roof? no? if not then dont let some idiot installer from directv do it either.

Side of the house below the fence line. Can't see it unless you walk around to my side yard. Still points to clear sky.

Roof. Pole mount can be knocked out of alignment by a riding lawn mower or kids hitting it with football. Installers usually want to charge extra to do a pole mount because it's more work and they don't want to do it.

Do facia board and not th actual roof unless you want a roof leak. Those techs aren't too particularly about their work.

Mines mounted on the roof of my breezeway between house and garage. No leak worries.

Yeah, I got mine installed in my yard.
I'm not letting someone from directv drill into my roof. Plus according to our HOA its not supposed to be visible from the road.
