Looking at redeeming some travel points and staying at an all inclusive here. Specifically looking at the Majestic Elegance resort. Any thoughts or experiences?

I've never been, but I'm pretty sure there was a thread about this a few days ago... Try and search. I think that majestic place came up a good bit.

The northern part of the country is better IMO. Cabarete is the best place to be.

Def worth the trip. You'll be in the minority.. Mostly people from Spain and Europe when I went. Topless beaches & prettier waters than even the Virgin Islands.

Loved it, went to Eden H, though I'm not sure the resort still caries that name...

Went for honeymoon. If you go, you will want to stay at your resort, especially if you get an all inclusive, which is what you are gonna want to do. The beach is great, beautiful beach, beautiful water, however unless you are going on excursions, you won't want to be out away from resort, country is poor as shite, extremely poor. Lots of Europeans, not many Americans, however a good time, enjoyed our trip, probably wouldn't go back though.

Just got back. Went to a new all-inclusive resort named "Chic". We had a blast. I agree, in DR you're better off staying at the resort (same as Jamaica and similar places).
I think it is a little more laid back than cancun and similar all-inclusive --- less party/spring break, more euro/exotic. Stay at adults only resort. Lots of Canadians this time of year.
Majority of the resorts have casinos and loads of entertainment activities. Caters to the 30-40 crowd. If y'all are 20's and looking to party then look elsewhere.
Also, you better be ok with presidente beer
