Is anyone planning to go? Representative Ourso, LaDOTD will be giving updates on plans to add the interchange at Pecue. This is a City/Parish project that is part of the Green Light Plan that also calls for widening Pecue to the new section that will connect to the new Stumberg Extension in front of the hospital (that project was completed earlier this fall, so go use the roundabout and drive on the road I helped design).

I have no part at all in this particular project, but it's an important one. So if you are a citizen and want to attend, the meeting is at 6:30 PM tonight at the Saint George Fire Department HQ on Airline Highway.

Here's a LINK to the press release.

There needs to be another Prairieville exit before this.

I believe Bluff Road is the PVille exit on Rep. Ourso's agenda.

Ourso won't be the rep much longer, but it is on rep-elect's agenda.

Is the Bluff Road exit even feasible though? Seems like a tough spot to add an interchange.

Was there a confederate General Pecue that I never read about? What is this all about?

I'm sure he's had an engineer take a look at it to determine if it's possible. Remember roads can be realigned to make the geometry work as well. I'm sure something could be worked out. It might be a unconventional interchange.

Bluff Road

Absolutely need one here. That would take SO much pressure off Highland Road exit/entrance ramp and the morning traffic on Old Perkins.

But, but, but all of the Green Light Plan road improvements only take place in downtown Baton Rouge and never in unincorporated areas of the parish!!!

ETA: Thanks for posting the OP. I'll try to make to the meeting tonight

I'd hope he did some homework to see if it is possible. But it wouldn't be the first time a politician made a big, unrealistic promise to get elected.

Since you're "in the biz," would a "T" exit/entrance work there?

The entrance/exit ramps are to the center of the span (the current median), with a traffic light controlling at the top (so that the bridge would look like a cross from the top - 4 way intersection). Obviously, the bridge would need to be widened and the exit/entrance ramps would need to be fairly long so that traffic isn't backing up onto the interstate (for traffic wishing to turn left at the intersection).

All for it. Siegen is too darn crowded.

Looking at the geometry of the existing roads on Google Earth for the first time, my first stab is to align Bluff and Old Perkins by eliminating that curve in Old Perkins at the light. That would create a T-intersection with realigned Old Perkins and Bluff.

That seems easy enough...and you could put a conventional diamond interchange in at Bluff, but there is a lot of elevation there. I think something could definitely be worked out at Bluff.

Ourso and his behind the scene dealings with developers killed Shenandoah. Do not trust him.

That is all.

You are very welcome. And I'm only posting this because I live in the area.

The thing you have to remember about these meetings is that they are susceptible to the vocal minority. People who are for it take it for granted and just stay home. You're support is very much heard and wanted to drown out the crybabies.

Once these things receive approval, how long do they take to actually complete?

That depends on money. It's not real unless there is funding for construction. Once they break ground, you're probably looking at about a year or two.

I choose not to attend, but is there any chance that the Pecue from Airline to Jefferson can be renamed along with yet another Pecue that doesn't connect to the Airline to Perkins Pecue? The one that goes to Highland.

The Jefferson's & Antioch's needs renaming too.

I live off Pecue. I'm skeptical on the interchange at Pecue.
I like being able to get on the other side of the interstate without having to go on Highland or Siegen.

Perkins would need to be 4 laned bewteen highland and Siegen, Pecue widened to 4 lanes and Rieger Rd needs to connect Siegen to Highland. If all of this isn't done, then it's a stupid idea.

Fes, that golf course was doomed no matter what, and they put up some nice houses in place of it. The bullshite "soon to be crime ridden" apartments across the street on Jones Creek are what you should be pissed about.

All my buds are pals with Darrell Ourso and I've chatted with Darrell a few times. Fes, you need to stop being a hot-head.
