i'm sorry,
this isn't in any way meant to be an e-peen / humblebrag thread.
it's a legit question that i'm hoping people who have experience with both can shed some light on.

Well, you now have an option of public schools as well. Lusher Charter elementary, middle and high school are all really good.

Newman if your kid isn't smart enough to get into Ben Franklin.

Looking at a MASSIVE difference in tuition for high schools.

Private schools are more expensive I think. Prob a little better bc of that.
Either will get your kid into LSU.
Either will get your kid into LSU.

that is an issue.
the private school tuition in new orleans is pretty high compared to the catholic schools.
is the education / type of student body a major difference also?

Private schools are definitely far more expensive.

Not particularly, but outside of the Jesuit the private school students tend to be more affluent than the Catholic school students

I mean, what is your kid looking to do in college? I really can't see a big difference in terms of a kids future. Algebra and all that other useless high school education will be mostly the same. Unless you hate Catholics save the money and put it towards college fund.

thanks reg,
that was the feeling i was getting but i wasn't sure.
we've been to a few open houses for elementary school and my argument is for a smaller class size and a school that they can go to from k-12. (that was my experience)
i can't wrap my head around having 200+ people in your graduating class, i had around 50.

Save yourself the $ and send him to a Catholic school (or ben franklin)
if you think your kid is dumb and wont be able to make the grades, then send him to private school. as long as you are paying that tuition, they will get the grades

Are catholic schools no longer considered private schools?
Posted on 1/9/14 at 5:24 pm to hey benji
Catholic tends to be a lot more affordable than the comparable private.
