My wife is going back to work next fall as a teacher and was curious how much private/catholic school teachers get paid? This would be in the Mandeville/Covington area. I obviously know it's less than public school teachers, but what would be a good ballpark #?

My first year of teaching I was at a private school. Was right around 30k and shite benefits. Needless to say I got the hell out

Wow. So 40k a year equivalent. Definitely what our young minds are worth. Not sure why private schools pay shite wages when parents are dropping $16k a year per student.

That's a hell of a lot less than Episcopal schools. Never understood why.

Why would she not go public if you live in the Mandeville/Covington area and start at 45k?

Public school would be the preference... Private school is just another option.

Because contrary to popular opinion, running schools is expensive. Running them well is very expensive. And while 9 months is true, most teachers are actually working 9-10 hours a day. How many hours a day to most people sitting at a desk ACTUALLY work? 6? 5?

It's a shame teachers make such little money
