We not only sympathize, we empathize.

It's a horrible thing - floodwaters.

Hope your family and friends family come out OK. There's a lot of work ahead of you, but if friends and family are safe that's the most important thing.

Buddy of mine is posting pics on FB from Conway SC. It looks historically bad there.

Wow. Are you available for parties?

Carolina guys. I'll be looking for ways to help with money, labor and supplies.

If you know of an organization that is organizing labor for clean up/volunteers, let me know.

What I said wasn't a direct comparison.

Here's a (invalid) comparison.
"Hurricane Hugo was JUST AS BAD AS Hurricane Katrina"

That's a comparison. That's not the claim I made.

Name the worst hurricane to ever hit Louisiana? 99% of people from Louisiana are going to say Katrina.

Name the worst hurricane to ever hit SC? 99% of South Carolinians are going to say Hugo.

People in Florida would probably say the same about Hurricane Andrew.

Until something worse comes along, every storm that comes near SC will be compared to Hugo.. every storm that comes near the gulf will be compared to Katrina.. same with Florida and Andrew.

Me saying "our Katrina basically" was a way that I could relay to people from Louisiana (who may not recall Hugo since it happened in '89 before this era of excessive media) how Hugo lives in the memories of South Carolinians. It's OUR worst storm ever. Just as Katrina is yours.

Hopefully FEMA was prepared for this but more than likely they were not. I am not sure how many Hurricane disasters it takes to get these idiots on the right page.

Was this flooding due to the hurricane? I haven't been following it closely I thought it was from a different source.

It is due to a low coming from the west tapping into moisture from the hurricane+tropics/Florida+Gulf of Mexico.

Naw, Dude. UGA in the '05 SECCG chanting "Kuh-trin-uh!" as LSU took the field was the worst thing I've ever seen. Especially the UGA fans seated near myself and Mrs. 19 getting in our faces during said chant.

"Y'all shouldda stayed under water, Bubba."

"UGA fiddin to finish what Katrina started."

"How did y'all get here, by boat?"

etc, etc.

But really, prayers and thoughts to all in SC. Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Hang in there, and stay safe.

meh. LSU had literally nothing to do with Katrina besides letting the Saints play in TS.

Thanks for prayers guys. It's been a long few days.

My family is okay, luckily (even though I was 0.1 miles from areas that were completely underwater) I was well above the water.

I was able to fly the area today to assess so dams, the damage is beyond anything I could have imagined. Was in buddy's house today, water line was shoulder high.

We thought we were going to lose several of our major interstate bridges, but things are looking better in that regard, still not out the woods statewide. This water is going to cause problems all the way down.

Thanks again OT, always encouraged by the support from here.
