Has anyone taken this review course as studying for the PE? Did you find that it was worth it, as in were you prepared more so than attempting to study on your own? I'm trying to do studying on my own, but as I only work in structural engineering, I haven't even looked at anything with waste water, environmental, or hydrology since school. I don't mind spending the 2500 on it if it's worth it.

Buy the study material, or reference books, and do it yourself. I'd be embarrassed if I couldn't relearn that information on my own. Reference books are probably your best bet, they'll look good on your shelf as well.

I bought the morning review books already and I am going through them. Most of it is coming back to me. I am just curious if anyone who has taken the course as opposed ot just the review books felt it was really worth the money for the routine classroom feel.

I have been studying the past year using the study guides. Spent around $250ish on the guides and a practice test. I figure i can take the test multiple times cheaper then the class.

Too late to do it this year, but the $1500 TestMasters class out of LTRC basically guarantees you pass, and will let you retake their class should you not pass. Most people I know do no studying outside of that class and pass.

PPI makes the same claim. Apparently there are requirements for working extra problems on your own and turning them in to get the free re-take if you fail. If it really helps people pass, the money is worth spending.

This. The return on investment is to great. If you don't get a $2000 raise just for passing you should not take it or reevaluate where you work.

I'm taking it. Class starts saturday. I haven't done anything so far but I feel like I'm in the minority. Exam is April 17.

If testmasters has started than I'm SOL for that one. After taking it though, do you think it was worth it enough to have paid for it with your own money? My department at work won't pay for it.

Will you get a raise once you're a licensed PE? If yes, clearly it's worth it to basically be guaranteed to pass.

The bigger question is will your company allow you the time off to go to the classes?

The testmaster classes are at night and on the weekend, so time off isn't a problem. I'll get a raise, but not mid-year. We just got a new CEO and he's trimming fat in a lot of business units, so everyones budget is tight this year. The percentage raise that it was with the old CEO was definitely worth it.

You sure about that?

There's a Monday, Tuesday and Friday in those dates. At least they were nice enough to skip the week of Mardi Gras
