I recently met a client who has a daughter about to graduate from law school. She was telling me of her daughter's plans to travel Asia with friends after graduation.

This brought back memories of my own travels to Europe after getting my doctorate. I traveled with a friend to western central and Eastern Europe for a month following graduation.

Anyone do the same after any of their graduations? Or any current student(s) with plans to travel immediately following graduation?

Mine was $170k. We started planning a year ahead and saved aside some of the loan monies that year.

If doing Europe, get a Rail Pass..take the late night train to your destination and sleep on the way.

You're just going to leave it at that?

Like a well cooked steak on a plate without the silverware? SOB

Went to Germany, France and Switzerland. Of course I have lots of family in Germany which is where my mom is from. Cruise the Rhine, visit some castles, and enjoy the fresh brewed beers.

If you have a job lined up, you could put it on a credit card.

As soon as I'm done with active duty I plan on touring Africa before I go back to school. Morocco, Egypt, Tanzania (Mount Kilimanjaro), South Africa, and Madagascar are all on the list.

It's the biggest load of horseshite, these frickers take out student loans and use the money to travel. These same people are the ones who want student loan forgiveness.

Spent 3 weeks back packing around Europe after school and before starting my career. Highly recommended. When else will you be able to take a month off to travel until you retire?

Wife got her Masters 6 months before my MD. We went to Ireland for a week right after I graduated. 2 days in Dublin. Rented a car and drove from the east coast to the west coast (took 3 1/2 hours to cross the country). Stayed in several bed and breakfasts while we toured the entire western part. Flew out of Shannon and stayed in a castle our last night located about 15 minutes from the airport. It was awesome

As far as paying for it, my wife had a great job teaching at a charter school in NOLA. We had already figured out how to live with our budget before that job came around, so pretty much all of her salary went to savings. Without that, we would probably had a nice dinner in NOLA...
