Hey diks!
I have two great opportunities; but first a brief backstory.
I'm in college for a specific area in the video game industry. I'm a sophomore in college and in the top 7% of my class. I've only applied to two major gaming companies (out of boredom) and both asked to speak with me via phone interview; one asked to speak with me < 24hrs after I made contact. One would uproot me while the other keeps me here. The one that uproots me is what my degree is in while the one that keeps me here is not. Equal benefits, similar pay.
Also, I've been working at the same place since I was 12 years old (working summers until I graduated high school, then full time). It's safe to say that I'm in a comfort zone.
Now, the question(s):
How scary or hard is it to uproot and move the family? The one that uproots me, it would be a dream job with major risk but both would be fun. No risk, no reward; right?
TIA

Best decision I ever made.

Time to man up. Take the dream job. But consider cost of living when comparing salaries.

Will do! Already researched crime rate and comps in the local and surrounding areas. Surprisingly, comps are similar to BR

So you'd be uprooting kids that haven't made friends or attended school? Seems like the best time to do it to me.

Where do you live now and where would you be uprooted to?

This... this is what I will say one day.

What's the major risk of taking the job that uproots you?

Does one job have more upward mobility than the other? That's where I would start.

this
i'd also look into child care costs in the area though
some places, real estate and cost of living might be the same but daycares can be absurdly different
but i say go for it

Your pull out game is weak. Move the family though. I travel for work and it's nice to see how much more to the country there is than only LA. I still love being home, but some of my best experiences are from being on the road.

And you're trying to play Nintendo for the rest of your life?

What region of the country is this dream job in? The prospects of a great job can be tempered if you don't like where you live.

This. Set yourself up to win by doing what you're good at.
Move. People have been doing it for centuries, and we're all still here. You can do this.

the gaming industry is very fragile. New people are in and out all the time. So, I'd be going (this could change) in without a contract keeping me there for x time.

Major risk??
If this is truly the case and you have the family you describe then this "major risk" would concern me.

Uprooted again late last year to not necessarily a dream job, but a dream company that will get me there.
QoL drastically increased from LA. Best decision I made. I asked the board too.
