Our pool automation system got f'ed through a power surge a couple of days ago.

We are evaluating Pentair Easytouch vs. Jandy PDA system...

Any thoughts from the OT?

We are installing a pool right now and they are putting in Jandy. It supposed to be the best. My FIL has Jandy on his pool and raves about it.

I would prefer Pentair equipment over jandy but check out Hayward while you're at it. They've made some big swings in equipment over the past few years.

Thanks for the quick replies...for those with Pentair, do you have an Intellitouch or EasyTouch?

The Pentair Easy Touch is being quoted by one vendor about $500 cheaper than Jandy

don't bother with the PDA. If you go with Jandy just get the iAqualing and control with your phone, tablet or laptop. replacement PDA are expensive.

Have Jandy system, but replaced salt cell with Pentair. Pool repair guy says Pentair is currently the most reliable.

Pentair's salt system isn't too great. Cells are way more expensive compared to other options on the market.

This is why I'll never waste any money on a salt system or any fancy electronic timers or automatic chlorinators.

A $5 floater with chlorine tablets will never break or cost hundreds to replace.

Dumping a bucket of liquid chlorine in my pool will never break either.

I just upgraded my pool to Hayward Omnilogic. It's nice being able to control my pool and backyard lights from my phone.

Pentair... Only because that's what I had. The pool community raved about Jandy though... IDK

Be careful with Pentair. While I like the Easy Touch system, their replacement parts cost a small fortune. I had an "outdoor" pool remote. It got rained on twice. Now, it is a paper weight. The cost to replace? $1000.
