I recently ran into two women that described their polyamorous lifestyles to me. One was my cousin's girlfriend in Idaho and then again by a casual acquaintance. The cousin's girlfriend started off our acquaintance by announcing that she believes women should rule the world. Said women are more efficient...blah, blah, blah. Anyway, in both circumstances there was definitely a hyper-feminist agenda. As soon as I was about to excuse myself from the conversation she reels me in by stating she is polyamorous and asked me if I knew what that was. She then gave me her bullet points for why it's a good lifestyle.

Anyway, both times I came away from the interaction feeling that they needed validation but under the guise that they were enlightened.

Am I just becoming an old fart because I don't remember anyone in my generation needing so much validation for picking an unconventional lifestyle? If you wanted to frick a lot people, you just did it.

The point of polyamory though is to have multiple relationships, or multiple people in a relationship.

No thanks, I'll stick to me and one of the person. Just seems like way too much drama.

There's a NOLA burlesque dancer who is big in the "Poly" scene and is always talking about it. I think she's dating a he/she these days. Isn't "Polyamory" another word for open relationship/being a sloot?

I read the "definition" of polyamory and it sounds like it just means single and ready to mingle. How is that so ground-breaking?

It cleaner according to her. Everyone signs contracts to get tested for VD, there is openness and its that "it takes a village" mentality. People raise kids in the setting, etc.

There is a show on Showtime about Polyamory. One of the "couples" are two sets of married people that are dating each other and all live in the same house.

Sounds miserable.

Women have half the money and all the pussy. If you can't rule the world with a head start like that, you never will.

To each their own. Sounds like way too much drama.

Just the basic construct of the lifestyle seems like it will be a revolving door of sexual partners who rotation will surely upset the herd eventually.

I don't care that people do this, however I do get annoyed when they get in my face about it.

He still lives at home at 34 and sleeps in a tent in the backyard. I drove in for business and had to leave the next day for Utah. This girlfriend and him stayed up until 2 am with her three children. My uncle gets up at 5 am and works until 10 pm at the home and they were loud as frick until 2 am. I don't get why my uncle/aunt puts up with this shite.

If that's what people dig, and both are happy with the arrangement, I can't say much about it other than having confusion.

If you want to frick a bunch of people, why not just be single? Or maybe I'm getting the wrong idea of polyamory. I suppose it's multiple people involved in one meta-relationship, which to me is even more confusing than an open relationship.

shite, I'm behind the times. I've come to realize I'm fairly conservative (in personal tastes) for someone who is a profligate dopehead.
