Prosecutors have released surveillance video showing Monroe, La. police officer Jody LeDoux shooting and killing a homeless man within seconds of the officer’s arrival on scene. Raymond Keith Martinez was reportedly drunk when he was ejected from a local store and law enforcement was called to remove him, and may have reached for what shopkeepers say may have been a black cellphone when shot. LeDoux has pleaded not guilty to the charges, although looking at the footage, it is difficult to defend his actions. While all the facts of the case are not known, LeDoux has found support from several of his colleagues from the West Monroe Police Department. LeDoux is next scheduled to appear in court on May 19, 2015.

If you want you and your dog to live, don't invite the man into your life.

I've never found myself in a situation where a cop was going to beat me silly or shoot me.

Me neither (thanks to mom and dad for being white). But, you can't disagree that it seems cops are killing more and more people with no real consequences. I respect cops and their job, but, there are a few bad apples and until someone is held accountable it will continue.
Cops are continual targets and a few one zealous officers aren't helping their cases.

Well Chicken, they said that the homeless man was drunk. That might be why. Just saying.

What kind of training are these cops receiving now a days. Shoot first then hand cuff him.

If the cop legitimately thought it was a gun then just fire him and slap him with something small.
Mistakes happen in every field by every employee the problem is when a cop makes a mistake its pretty bad.
Also if the cop really thought it was a gun and is upset by it then it will likely effect his performance down the road. He could end up slow on the trigger in future situations and actually endanger himself/other officers. I think its best he find a new job regardless of the outcome of the case.

never understood that, after shooting and killing a suspect the officers cuff him/her.

99% of the time "they" is other officers or white people.
