So how do they determine where these pokemon appear?

Reason I ask is there have been people all over neighborhoods in Cypress and apparently they are in people's backyards and windows. Is that correct?

Is that true?

All I can see is that leading to someone getting shot dead for going into someone's yard at night or peeping in a window.

From what I can tell it's random but I think areas with higher cellular phone activity(like malls and busy parking lots) produce more Pokemon.

Not sure how it works, but the employees at my office who are in their mid to late twenties are obsessed with this shite and it's the saddest thing I've ever seen. These are young adults chasing fictional Pokemon around the office and around the building at lunch. I am so confused by it.

Just seems to be opening up for lawsuits.

I know some people already were robbed thanks to it.

Why were they robbed? Because they were out in public? We should all just stay at home with the doors locked at all times.

Thanks to criminals.

That's like saying someone is robbed at a bank thanks to banks having money

You shouldn't have to venture on anyone's private property to catch them. If you're in the vicinity, you click on them and they'll pop up whatever your camera is pointed at.

As far as I can tell they show up randomly for certain amounts of time. They disappear. If you are with someone else, they see the same pokemon on their map.

Pokemon locations are based off Ingress data. Ingress is the game that preceeded Pokemon.

This is all just guess work I have done from Ingress data that comes from Google maps and information about population and wifi. If Google has gotten data from your wifi there is a good chance you have Pokemon at your house.

Cellphone use may be another factor, Walmart parking lots are a hot bed for spawning.

If you play ingress, you will find what is called ground XM (energy in the game) in certain spots while not in others. You can pretty much find Pokemon where ground XM regenerates, so the data that Google used to generate that may be the same as what they use for spawn locations for Pokemon.

Dunno all the details, but there's a game called Pokemon Go where you try to locate and capture characters with your smartphone. It uses your GPS or something. The sprites appear in random places. You can't see them but your phone can.

If you played Ingress you know of what they called XM(exotic matter). They were tiny specks on your map that you automatically collected when you passed over them. You needed them for energy to attack portals and such. Some places with high cell phone usage like Walmart parking lots or downtown BR would have thousands of them in a small space. Neighborhoods would have less. Rural areas would have even less. I've noticed these areas with higher XM density also have higher Pokemon spawn rates.

I still play ingress and I think you missed what I edited in while you may have been typing that. Going to Toronto for the primary in September. NOLA will most likely get a primary or secondary in November again.

Pokemon Go is the cultural touchstone where I now realize I have entered "old fart" territory.

You enlightened or resistance?

I was hardcore in Ingress for a long time but increasingly caught myself asking myself "what the hell are you doing?" I'm just shy of level 12.

Ditto man. I'm 32 but the idea of actually doing this seems so ridiculous and fruity to me I can't help but just laugh in disbelief when I hear the younger people at work all jacked up about it.
