Please Welcome The 20 Newest BRPD Officers, Coming To A Ghetto Near You

This group of 22 graduated on April 10, 2017 and are completing their field trial on August 4, 2017.
Looks like we lost two somewhere along the way. I'd bet one is the rookie who was involved in the fatal shooting on South Acadian, he's likely still on paid leave. No idea what happened to the other one. Either way, 20 new officers is a very welcoming sight.
Props to all of you for stepping up at possibly one of the hardest times to ever become a police officer.

BRPD's laterals are almost all minorities. Their academies are more even.

I would guess no. I think the recent Advocate articles gave a figure of 60+ vacancies, but that would have to already account for this group being hired on. Without this group I guess it would be 80+ instead.

Would like more diversity for sure, but it has been published in the Daily Advertiser many months ago (not long after the Gavin Long shooting of the BR cops) that one problem is that minority applicants have trouble passing the required background checks.
Would like more minorities in law enforcement to improve relationships and set good examples.
