Please pray for one of my teens who collapsed at school yesterday,

Many of you know I am youth pastor. This is a hard concept for some to understand, but I love my teens like they are my own kids. So this situation is pretty tough on me.
With that being said. One of my teens collapsed at school yesterday, had a mini seizure, and stopped breathing. The school nurse revived him. But His heart rate has been hovering around 45 ever since, and he has a prolonged QT Interval. Yesterday, the doctors at Children's thought it was a combination of severe dehydration from the start of fall practice and a Z-Pak he was taking for his sinuses. However, his bpm dropped into the mid 30s last night. After doing another EKG they are now saying it is a heart defect, and the dehydration/Z-Pak simply worsened the effects. Earlier today they told him no more football, he can't consistently play other sports, and they are putting in a pacemaker.
This is a kid who has played basketball, football, baseball, soccer, and run track his entire life. 16 years old, ran a 4.7 40 @ 6'1 w/175lbs of pure muscle, has maybe 7% body fat. He had been trying to put on weight, and he had legitimate shot at playing D1 as a safety if he could put on 40 lbs. He has been to the Ole Miss camp the past 2 years. The coaches specifically asked him to come back this year so they could monitor his progress. This summer's camp was only 2 weeks ago.
Football being ripped away is killing him, and I hate it. I'm just trying to keep help him keep his head up. He isnt even that concerned about the heart issue, he just wants to play football. His face when he was told he couldn't play was heart breaking. To further expound a bit, they said he could play less strenuous sports on an inconsistent basis, or 1, maybe 2, pickup games of basketball as long as his heart rate doesn't go up to much.
I'm hoping they will let him play baseball, as it is a sport that doesn't require the same physical effort football, or basketball. He was actually better at baseball as well. He just loved football so much more.
I am simply thankful it didn't happen when he was driving, because he was headed to the parking lot to drive home when he collapsed. I am also thankful it didn't happen at practice, because it truly might have killed him with where his heart rate would be during practice, and with no school nurse there to revive him.
So, I ask for your prayers/good thoughts, whatever it is you want to send his way. For both healing and peace. He needs love and support. As a bunch of athletes, ex-athletes, and dads, I am sure you all can understand his pain and frustration.
Thanks OT.

do almost as much to raise them as their parents, and I definitely know them better.
Why include that?

I will pray for his health. Playing sports is something that depends on a kids genetics. Most will never experience what he has already experienced in his life. He sounds like a good kid. He will be fine.

Maybe I shouldn't have, but I wanted it to reinforce the fact that these kids mean the world to me, and that I am very emotionally vested in them.
I'll delete that part.

Solidifying my belief that youth pastors are weirdos.

Hard time, snarky, cursing, personal attack, booger flingin', sister joke, etc.
Stand by your kid and try to get him to aim his considerable talents at a STEM core once he is up and back around. Good luck to you and him.

Those kind of tid bits are always included in articles, posts, or stories like this. Except usually it's an article about a kid dying in practice.
Its purpose is normally to reiterate to the reader that this situation happened despite the kid being in terrific shape.
It's the OT, I knew I was going to be mocked going into this. That is fine, I don't care. Just pray for the kid.

Prays sent. It breaks my heart every time I go to Ochsners transplant center and see kids that are in need.
He will be going thru a life changing event along with his family. They will need support to help them understand living with a pacemaker.
Here is a start.

Any questions, these people can help.

Damn son, show some class.
It was relevant b/c the kid is an athlete and doesn't just have participation trophies on his shelf.
OP, the kid was lucky. Remind him of that.

VaBamaMan -
I have experience with similar situation. Given what you have described, prolonged QT interval, etc., your friend's family should reach out to / look into the feasibility of contacting Dr. Michael Ackerman at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN or Jeffrey Kim at Texas Childrens in houston.
Good luck
