re: Plans to ban tourists from smoking weed in Netherlands nixed

If they regulated marijuana in New Orleans like they do in Amsterdam, Louisiana would be filthy rich.

Imagine if you made it so that only coffee shops in the French Quarter could sell marijuana and you could only "legally" use it inside the coffee shops like Amsterdam. That way people aren't just smoking it up in the streets (which should be legal too but another discussion entirely). Make it just like alcohol, 21 years old to get it and can't drive while intoxicated. I honestly think it would work.

Why in the name of God did you leave CO to go to LSU?

Im just talking here.

Yeah. I agree. The federal government is a power crazy clusterfrick of an organization that violates its own constitution on a daily basis.

All my friends in Colorado are quite jealous that I go to LSU actually. I think I have a lot more fun than my friends at CSU and CU.

We have better football, better food, more culture, nicer weather...

It loses its appeal if you grow up there. Lots of hippies, freezing weather, depressing brown land during the winter. Plus, people in Colorado are just dirtier. It's not all skiing and cute little mountain towns.

Of course it would work but I fully expect LA to be one of the last, if not the last, states to pull its head out of its ass.

I wouldn't want that restriction but if I lived there I could deal with it.

Oh you are a "Constitutional Expert"? Please tell me more about your advanced qualifications that allow you to critique the Constitution and government in general.

The federal government has bigger fish to fry. It's a waste of resources for them to enforce the law pertaining to weed. Too many people to upset by bringing in Uncle Sam's strong arm on otherwise law abiding citizens. Do I think they will come down hard on CO if it passes? I don't think so.

Also, I like the hemp argument. Props

Ok. Here are two of them:
1. I live in America, am a citizen of this country, and a cornerstone of our country is the right i have to criticize the government.
2. I was a poli sci major with my concentration in the Constitution and American Public Policy.

ETA: I also mad a minor in history the majority of my classes dealing with the history of American Federal Government.

Kids are stupid. They will figure it out once they get out of college and live elsewhere. Boulder would be an awesome school to go to...

I highly doubt the dirtier comment and definitely don't agree from all the times I have visited Colorado.

Winter isn't that bad, lived in Alaska for a number of years. Easy to deal with... Louisiana summers suck, so weather is a draw really.

I am not a big skier. I am an avid outdoors person that loves motorcycling, especially dual sport. CO is heaven to me.

Do you really believe the Dutch govt was actually behind that? The US govt has been putting pressure on them for years. This new group just decided to have a spine and not succumb to the pressure.

1. Weak qualification. You may have the right to critique the government, but without facts and evidence, everything you say is just an opinion. No better than the homeless guy who rants on the corner.

2. What college? This has a lot of bearing. If you are a Poli Sci major from LSU then we can go ahead and check the national rankings of Political Science programs to see just how meaningless that degree really is.

Unless you have direct experience working in/with the government or have evidence from an independently peer-reviewed source, you are just another quack with an opinion. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Everyone and there mom claims to be an expert on the Constitution these days.

Well, you clearly like Colorado based on your interests. I'm not a motorcyclist, so that doesn't appeal to me.

Boulder has people who sit on the street, play guitar, grow dreads, get tattoos, and pretend to be homeless when they are from upper-middle class families. It's a joke.

How can you not think Colorado people are dirtier? It's socially acceptable for girls to pierce their noses and get tattoos anywhere. A lot of the guys have shaggy, dirty hair and wear flannel lumberjack looking shirts every day. There just isn't a lot of sophistication (unless you live somewhere like Aspen)

I'm not staying in Louisiana after I graduate, but I'm not going back to Colorado either. LSU is a great place to go to college.

So because they have different interests than you they are dirty? Yeah, that's a really mature outlook on how the world really is.

I say this as a guy who wears suits every day and would never get a tattoo/piercing and am against "shaggy, dirty hair". I also recognize that everyone is different. So what's cool to me, may not be cool to you. Grow the frick up.

Are you talking about every college town?

Two words...Swamp people... Hell throw all of northern louisiana into this pot too...

It's ok, I don't regret it, but I wish I could of afforded going to a more top tier school. I was silly and was really interested in learning instead of football, food, culture, and social circles though. Food and culture really didn't matter because it was my own, kind of like your opinion of CO's food and culture. Plus, LSU wasn't exactly a national powerhouse in football when I went to school there.

The fact is that Congress has used the "interstate commerce" clause to expand their powers far beyond what was ever intended for them or what is necessary for them. Go read the constitution sometime.

Yeah i went to LSU. Good point. We dont rank in the top 5 of the nation so i must not have learned anything worth while.

Well i do from my experience at LSU, but you wont accept that.

No, it's far more common in Boulder than any other college town I've been to. Have you been to Pearl Street? Doesn't sound like it. Why would CU be better than LSU?

The Swamp people aren't around LSU so I don't have to deal with them.

I know quite a few people from Colorado at LSU, it's fun to branch out and have a completely different college experience. I didn't want to go to school 45 minutes away from where I grew up.
