I coach an 11-12 year old baseball team and I am looking to rent a pitching machine for batting practice this Saturday. Does anyone know if that is even an option in Baton Rouge. I do not want to go to an indoor facility as we need the defensive work as well.

Go to the cages for an hour and then head to a field for an hour

Back in my day the coaches would just pitch the ball themselves... kids these days.

I have been pitching at practice but after 200 pitches my arm is like a spaghetti noodle.

Don't you have other coaches or a parent that could also throw?

Have you not hired a specialized hitting coach?

Yes but I need somebody that can throw the ball 55-60 mph from 50 feet.

Just move up to about 30 feet and fire it in there. Their bats will get quicker. Need an arm to throw BP just get a high school kid to come out and throw to them.

I have been doing that but as the season progresses we are regressing at the plate. Plus we face pretty good pitching in this league and I want to simulate the 55-60 mph pitch from 50 feet. Unfortunately I do not know any High School kids to ask as my son is 12. I'm willing to pay $20 per hour for a minimum of 2 hours if you know any HS kid that can pitch that is interested.

One reason is that we have a make up game on Sunday from the weather that we had on Monday plus another game on Monday and Wednesday of next week. That is 3 games in 4 days and I don't want to exhaust my pitchers arms. The other reason is that using our own pitchers in batting practice is not the most efficient use of our limited time at practice. I'm looking to get these kids 40-50 swings each. Using our pitchers at practice we would be lucky for each kid to get 10 good pitches to hit. I either need a pitching machine or someone that can come in and throw strikes from 50 feet at 55-60 mph.
