re: Physics 2102

I'm in it right now

Just gotta put a lot of time into it if you don't get it right away

Work all the hw and I've heard you'll pass

And I'm praying that that is true

You gotta grind it out man. It doesn't get any easier than that going forward. Best way to study physics is to do the problems over and over again - LEARN THE STEPS, don't just regurgitate. There's a method to every type of problem.

Learn concepts of electromagnetism and you'll be fine. Took 1201 and 1202 since I was a physics major back then. Was easier since those classes didn't have all the engineering majors in, less numbers on the roster was nice

2102 is much easer than 2101 IMO

Good luck

Even if you make poor grades, just keep fighting it and you will eventually pass. Grades don't mean shite once you get your first job.

You can clear a clean 2.0 undergraduate and still have your pick of jobs. Just pass try and learn as much as possible because it all builds.

Once you graduate you'll have computers at your disposal to do any hard shite.

Word of advice, take a technical writing course. You will be amazed at how much you will need to write, and doing it properly makes a difference.

It blows my mind how many American engineers I work with write emails as if they were plucked from Calcutta yesterday.

Param Singh is actually a good teacher for that class.

Sometimes I feel like he can over explain stuff, but he definitely cares that the class learns the material. He's got an indian accent but he's not hard to understand. He is extremely approachable during office hours too.

If you want an A in that class, you need to go to every class, do your webassigns, and when the formula sheets are released for each exam you need to rework all the webassign problems for that test. If you do that there is no reason the class is hard.

I saw someone suggested brcc. After you have a certain amount of hours at LSU, they will no longer accept credits from 2 year colleges.

Good luck

re: Physics 2102
I Graduated in ME a few years back. The physics classes aren't hard, but they aren't easy to make a good grade in if that makes any sense at all. The teaching is god awful (except for Giamanco)and they just roll through the class like it's an assembly line. I actually did better in some of the big ME classes like Thermo and Heat Transfer. I did study more for those classes, but I remember not even knowing what to study in physics because I had no clue what was going on. I remember learning the stuff again from my ME teachers and thinking "wow this shite is easy, why couldnt they explain it like that before" Get tutored and you will get through it.

I knew someone would mention Giamanco before this was over!

I disagree with this entirely. My senior level engineering classes were a joke compared to 2102. I have never worked so hard to scrape by with the lowest passing grade for a class besides 2102. The big issue is I couldn't give one shit, much less two, about electromagnetic fields, reflection, and all the other bull shite that class covers. frick that class. frick it.

Use Jai the tutor, I got a B very easily because of him.

This; my grades steadily went up through my engineering path at LSU eventually getting to a 4.0 my last semester (though far from it cumulatively). Just survive the physics and the calculus, diff eq, etc and you'll be fine in your regular engineering classes. Seven years into the working world now and none of that shite matters now, good luck man

Just the other day I was telling someone I used to know how to do differential equations for a semester and for 1 question on the FE

I would be screwed if I needed to do any of that stuff now.
