Any restaurants, hotel, attraction info would be appreciated. Loews seems to be my top hotel choice. Good location and easy access to rail.

Penn's landing is cool. There are a couple of old pubs that you can only walk to- the streets are too narrow for cars. The liberty bell is pretty cool too. Get Geno's whiz wit, don't get witout or the fish. NYC is 2 hours by train. Also seeing the Rocky statue is cool I guess if you're into that sort of thing. The city hall building looks cool on the outside, but apparently is a shithole inside.

Other than that don't:
Feed the homeless
Walk/look/smell or even glance your eyes on a map to Camden New Jersey. Seriously. They shut down the bridge at night to keep people from walking across. It's a safety hazard.
Leave populated areas north, east, or west of the city.
Look for it's always sunny. You just might find it.
Mention you're a Saints fan. Seriously. Their Eagles fans are another kind of crazy.
Get shot/stabbed doing any of the above.

Leave immediately? That city sucks. Easily my least favorite major city in the US.

Do the historical crap.

Go to Penn. It's a different flavor of Ivy League school.

Screw Pat's and Geno's - go to Jim's Steaks on South Street.

Go to the Mitchell & Ness store.

Go to the Reading Terminal Market, find the Amish bakery in the corner, and buy as much baked goods as you can carry.

Lastly, frick the haters - I love Philly.

There is a lot of historical stuff and while you're there you really should do it...even if you aren't into history it's still neat. At least grab the hop on/hop off thing and drive by the stuff.

Reading Terminal Market, Philly sporting events are always a good time (as long as you blend in!). Manayunk is just outside and is a neat area. I love going to the Mint, it's always one of my fave attractions there.

A lot of people like to go to Love Park, if for nothing else but to take a pic in front of the statue. South Street used to be funky but I haven't been there in years so it might have changed.

There is a lot to do on the water. Next trip I'm going white water rafting.

East State Penitentiary. Jim's steaks. Buddakan. Dirty Franks for drinks. Stayed at the Loews before, convenient. However the nearest Subway stop is a scene from Saw.

If you like ice cream then hit up the Franklin Fountain. Don't worry too much about the Iggles fans, lots of talk but their egos are easily crushed.

Stock up on liquor. A surprisingly large number of restaurants are BYOB. It is nice to save some cash buying drinks but it is annoying to have to plan ahead.

Mitchell Elementary School in West Philadelphia. Like an idiot, I volunteered there during Alternative Spring Break while in college. It was a hoot!

Agreed on jims.

Some badass sites and photo ops down town.

If the lines arent long the tour of the liberty bell and all that is pretty neat.

Philly is awesome. Gettysburg and valley forge are in driving distance if you're a history nerd

Thanks for all of the info. I'm meeting up with family so they will also steer me in the right direction. I love history so checking out Philly is a big plus. I'm sure it will be hard pressed to top DC's selection though.

This!

I've been to the historical sites, but that city is nasty. Ugly, bad people, a hellhole.

DO NOT MISS. Awesome

Get you some Di Nics at Reading Terminal. Pork w/ sweet and hot peppers.

Philly is cool. Tons of college students and young professionals downtown.

There are a ton of BYOs so grab a bottle and go to dinner.

This was my favorite website when I lived in Philly. It is an interactive map of all of the BYOs. Figure out where you are staying and then search for a close restaurant.
