Interesting, and potentially scary, turn of events...

quote:

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced his "separation" from the United States on Thursday, declaring that it had "lost" and he had realigned with China as the two agreed to resolve their South China Sea dispute through talks.

Even though there was military deal in JAN 2016...one has to wonder if this will be revoked. Interesting times...

I wish China well in a long and stable relationship with someone who at least borders on being a psychopath in Duterte.

A close relationship with the Phillipines doesn't yield much to the other party.

I do happen to agree with Duterte's publicly stated negative opinion of BHO.

Yeah, that's how it usually starts. Good luck Phillipines, you're gonna need it.

Fine.

Gonna suck for them if another typhoon hits and the US is nowhere to be found for aid and relief.

Normally, the US does very well with psychopathic leaders.

This is strange.

When you look at strategic locations where the US would be able to establish a foothold were China to launch an offensive in the Pacific, losing the Philipines is actually a pretty big deal. Currently, it's a regular stop for our Navy and Marine forces that float around and patrol the Pacific. In my opinion, this is something that we should at least be paying attention to.

Wait til Manny Pacquiao becomes president of the Phillipines. Everything will go back to the status quo.
