First time I have seen (or noticed) my dogs with fleas.

I treated my yard yesterday and I always treat my dogs with flea medicine (spread along their spine, starting at back of head all the way down to their tail). Unfortunately for me and my dogs, I've seen a flea on each of them the last two days. I use spray to kill the flea instantly.

I've washed their beds and check them every time they go outside.

Anything else that I should be doing?

Both are small, inside dogs.

Always been that way. Always will be that way.

i would recommend an insect growth regulator to spray indoors -- precor, nylar, etc.

No shite, I just had a flea jump on my arm sitting outside about an hour ago, and my dog has no fleas that I've noticed, but I suppose it's the season, and we do have a lot of people walking their dogs in the neighborhood, and the occasional neighbors cat.

If I remember correctly, boric acid powder works wonders. I had someone give me some a while back and it knocked them out with the quickness. Guess I need to treat as well. Unlikely it was just some random flea.

We had some issues with fleas recently. Had to completely change their flea medicine. It was like the fleas became immune to the old one or something. But once you get them in your house, now you have to treat the house- wood floors, carpets, bedding, etc. If eggs have been laid, they will be back.

My lab got them last year, but it was because I was about 2-3 weeks overdue on his heartworm/flea treatment. Once I put it on him, the problem was solved.

Yep same here. In past years, the vet gave us the liquid drops. Which worked great. Until last year. They said that the fleas have become immune to the liquid drops, so we had to to give our dogs the chewable tablets. And it works. But, we also had to treat the entire house as well.

Yes and it seemed like we needed to change up the meds every year to stay on top of them. I started using Talstar granules in the yard and Bifenthrin liquid (Same active ingredient as Talstar) indoors last year and it's working well so far.

Haven't seen many fleas yet, but I've pulled several ticks off of my dog and MYSELF over the past 2 weeks.

Went through this 2 years ago. Fleas and ticks everywhere. I had my yard guy spray a bunch of times. I had terminex spray the inside a bunch of times. I sprayed the inside a bunch of times. Finally, it was conquered. My next step was burning my house down.

Good luck OP. Took me a year and a half to get the fleas under control in my yard.

What did you treat your lawn w/?

I own a pest control company here in Fla and have had TONS of flea calls in the last month.

I've had pretty good success in killing them off w/ Cross Check (bifenthrin)spray on the lawn and Nyguard or Precor aerosol indoors.

BTW, thanks for post about how to buy a car. I will definitely be using that during my future car purchases.

That definitely works too. It's has bifenthrin as well and you can adjust the rate used.

I don't know about the yard but if you have them in the house. Find you some wax myrtle and break some off and put it around the house. They will be gone in two days.
