Both are obnoxious. But nothing beats talking in public with your speakerphone turned up to the max. Pisses me off

It's better than those weirdos walking around with their phone next to their head listening to music in public. Better yet are the bros at they gym with the phone on a bench blaring their tunes.

Speakers project sound both forward and backward. Some headphones let a lot of sound bleed out of the back.
