If you know anything about my wife, you know she's a BIG hamburger eater.
She absolutely loves hamburgers. She could eat a hamburger twice a week. I don't eat many hamburgers. My doctor has told me, and if you've seen me you understand, to limit my hamburger intake to once a month.

I'm not sure he was hated, but Justin Timberlake really changed the way people thought of him

Leonard Euler.
Although he wasn't hated at all. But his accomplishments just kept getting more and more useful long after his death.

If this has happened I missed it somehow.

Michael Jackson. No one likes him towards the end of his life, but he was greatly celebrated upon his death. As far as I know, most know look favorably upon him (myself not included).

Obama in the future
Sad part is, this is probably true. People who make those major milestone marks get remembered and can easily have a very positive view of them historically.
Take Lincoln for example. Even though he never freed slaves (he freed slaves in the confederate states where he had no jurisdiction in order to put it to the south, yet slavery was alive and well in states that remained in the union), he is credited as this amazing person in the journey of race relations. He's even on the record stating blacks would never be equal and wanted to ship them to their own colonies, yet he's the great man who freed the slaves, a vote which happened after his death.
Same will happen with Obama. He has destroyed Healthcare for the middle class, but he's the first Black president, so history will play up some random narrative in 150 years.

Thomas Paine was widely hated after releasing The Age of Reason. It didn't go to well for him. We respect him now because of Common Sense. The Age of Reason is underrated.

Muhammad Ali went from being hated to being loved, and very much respected, before his life was over.

Jeff Gordon was despised by NASCAR fans across the US, but inexplicably towards the end of his career, he was embraced by even the most ardent of 'redneck' fans.
